Another Busy Week in Class 5

Another busy week in Class 5 culminating in a fantastic writing session where the children up levelled their fairy tale story openers. The pupils had to improve their first draft. You'll all be very proud of the work they have produced in their Big Writing Books, which you'll be able to have a look at on parents evening. I've had a great response from parents and I'm looking forward to meeting with you all to discuss your child's progress. If you can't make the appointment let me know and I'll try and meet with you another time. Thanks. :)

Big Writing

This week in their Big Writing, the children wrote the introduction to a Fairy Tale. Over the next few weeks they will be writing all the different parts of a Fairy Tale and eventually complete a full Fairy Tale story. Their Big Writing books are looking really impressive, they are definitely worth  look when you come to parents evening. You'll be impressed! :)

Sports Relief

Firstly, thank you all for your kind donations for Sports Relief. The children had a fun afternoon, which started with a mile run around our field, finished with a dance-a-thon and had loads of other activities in between. As one child put it, "that was the best day in school ever!" I've uploaded some pictures for you all to have a look at.

Big Writing

We had a special visitor in class today who came to watch our writing lesson, Mrs Coates and Mrs Norton. They were both very impressed with the standard of work produced by the children.

The children had spent time yesterday taking part in role play activities and planning what they were going to write. Here are some fun pictures of them pretending to be St David.

Hello From Class 5

Firstly, apologies for the lack of blogs from Class 5. We'll try to keep our blog updated more regularly from here on.

There has been some excellent writing work in class this week. The children have been learning about the story of St David. They then had to write a diary entry pretending that they were St David and told us about some of the main events in his life. The standard of work was fantastic.

Next week they will be writing some letters from St David to one of his friends. They will be doing a lot of drama and role play to get themselves into character. I'll try to put some photos up of the role play activities for you all to see.

Finally, a huge well done to all the children who took part in our St David's Day Eisteddfod. They were all brilliant. Hopefully we'll see some of you at our Best of St David's Day on Monday.
